Hey Ken,
Thanks for checking in with your amazing story of an adventure of facing problems and fixing them because you did not have a choice. You either figure out how to put the canoe together, or you would have needed a helicopter to rescue you. I look forward to our next time together.

Hi Jim:

Great story. It reminded me of the time some buddies and I paddled the Allagash River in Maine, while the water was quite high in spring. One of our canoes was a 20' cedar strip canoe a couple of the guys had built. First serious rapids we hit, the canoe went sideways into a rock, split in two like a toothpick and the halves took off in different directions. It took the better part of a day - and thank God two of the guys in our group were boat builders - but with lots of reeds, duct tape, foam sleeping pads, and reinforcing branches we were able to patch the thing up well enough to finish out our ten day trip in what had now become a 15' canoe. It drew some of the most curious stares in subsequent rapids, the ends of the canoe flexing up and down, attached by what looked like one central hinge.

Keep up the great blogging, Jim.

Hi Todd, Making lemonade out of lemons is a task for all of us to undertake each day. We face "broken booms" each day. Often time fear paralizes us from finding solutions. Part of my morning ritual no matter where I am in the world I start my day with, "Do not be fearful." Thanks for your comments.

Jim,

That is quite a story! Sometimes life resembles a "broken boom" that is split in half and we have a choice to make.. It is clear that you have made the right choice and you are not fearful. I am impressed!

Hey John, thanks for your insightful comments. Your quote is a good one, too. This topic of FEAR, and how it gets in our way from having a magnificent life, aplys to all aspects of life, not just even sailing and real estate. Until next time!

Jim - you make a great point AND it can be applied to buying real estate - especially foreign real estate or real estate out of the usual channels - It's an adventure!

The treasure lies deep in the ocean
But, if it's safety you seek
It is back on the shore - Sarmad

One of the quotes in my gray matter and heart that reflects what you are pointing out.

While I'm here - TO ALL VISITORS - if you haven't introduced yourself to Jim yet - you are missing out on one of life's many delightful surprises.
