Hi Sharon, thanks for checking in. Anytime you are in a foreign country in the Caribbean you are going to see chickens, goats and donkeys. I have never found a problem with lice, nor encountering manure anywhere that I walk. I would rather have the germs and people that I run into in the Caribbean than any other part of the world. We look forward to your next visit to what we describe as PARADISE.

This was our first trip to VI – we really enjoyed it, and met some great people.

I was surprised by the chickens (and the cats at the resort). Having grown up on a farm, I am fairly familiar with chickens. We currently only have 6, which is enough to feed us and a few friends. I was surprised at how many there were on St. Thomas and wondered if they didn’t spread lice around. I also wondered that an island so interested in tourism would allow such free-roaming manure spreading animal to go unchecked. Maybe people from big cities think it’s cute, but I thought it was a little disturbing. It just added to my perception that St. Thomas was a place I needed to be careful of my surroundings – people and germ-wise.
